Cabrini’s Parents & Pedigree
King: Ragdollchapps Sawyer Thomas
Queen: Ragdollwhiskers Nellys Toffee
Cabrini’s ancestry is filled with rare chocolate and cinnamon progenitors from high quality bloodlines. Cabrini makes her ancestors very proud.
Personality
Cabrini has an elegant, graceful air about her and she is loving and tender toward everyone. Her beautiful ruff (the proper word to describe the thick mane of fur around her chest) gives her confidence and poise. Of course, she just melts with the gentle caress of a child. She is wonderful loving mother.
Genetics
Cabrini has been tested with the Optimal Selection Wisdom Panel genetics test to determine her color, pattern and markings and also to identify genetic markers for diseases that are inherited from parents. Her genetic disease testing results are discussed below. Here are her color, pattern and marking genetics:
| Tested Genes | Allele Versions |
| Agouti gene (A locus) | a/a (not Lynx) |
| Brown gene (B locus) | b/b’ (Chocolate) |
| Colorpoint gene (C locus) | cb/cs (Mink) |
| Dilution gene (D locus) | D/d (Carries Dilute) |
| KIT gene (White / White Spotting locus) | N/N (Point) |
| Orange (observed – not a gene) | o/o (not Orange) |
Vaccinations and Testing
Vaccinations:
Cabrini has received all of her vaccines and she regularly receives her annual boosters. This includes:
- The three-way FVRCP vaccine:
- FVR = Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (or Feline Herpesvirus-1, FHV-1)
- C = Calicivirus (Feline Calicivirus, FCV)
- P = Panleukopenia (Feline Panleukopenia, FPL)
- The rabies vaccine as required by county and state law.
Cabrini has also been extensively tested to be sure that she is free and clear of biological and genetically inherited diseases.
Blood Tests:
Our veterinarian uses the IDEXX SNAP FIV/FeLV Combo Test. Cabrini’s results were:
- FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) – Negative
- FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) – Negative
Upper Respiratory Disease Panel Test:
We use the Kedi Labs Respiratory Infection PCR Panel test. Cabrini’s results were:
- Chlamydia felis – Negative
- Feline Calicivirus – Negative
- Feline Herpesvirus 1 – Negative
- Bordetella bronchiseptica – Negative
- H7N2 Influenza Virus – Negative
- Influenza A Virus – Negative
Genetic Testing:
The Optimal Selection Wisdom Panel genetic tests screen for many mutations. Cabrini tested negative for all of them, including the following that are important for Ragdoll cats:
- HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) – N/N (Negative)
- PKD1 (Polycystic Kidney Disease) – N/N (Negative)
- MPS VI (Mucopolysaccharidosis Type VI) – N/N (Negative)
Overall Health
Cabrini enjoys excellent health. It helps, of course, that she eats well, has a sprinkle of probiotic on her breakfast and has a mid-morning yoga session. An afternoon nap does wonders for her too!
Namesake Story
Our breeder cat Cabrini was named after the Catholic nun St. Frances Xavier Cabrini (often called Mother Cabrini) who later became the first American citizen to receive sainthood. She was a visionary Italian-American nun who became a “CEO of Compassion” during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. While she is best known for her work with Italian immigrants in New York City, her impact was global: she founded 67 institutions—including schools, orphanages, and a massive hospital system—across Europe and the Americas. Our cat Cabrini is also brilliant and determined like Mother Cabrini, and is every bit as worthy of respect.
FAQs
What health testing do you perform on the parents?
Responsible breeders test for HCM, PKD, MPS, FeLV and FIV. In addition to these tests, we also run the upper respiratory infection panel test.
Do you vaccinate your cats?
Our breeder cats receive all of their vaccinations and their regular boosters. This includes deworming, the three-way FVRCP vaccine and the rabies vaccine. Kittens are also vaccinated as appropriate for their age.
Do both parents have HCM, PKD and MPS DNA tests with proof?
Absolutely! We have certificates from the testing laboratory showing the genetic testing that has been conducted on our breeder cats. Copies of the certificates can be sent to you upon request.
Do you test for PKD?
Most certainly! We conduct genetic testing to identify any markers in the cat’s DNA to prove that they have not inherited PKD, HCM or MPS.
Are the kittens registered with TICA/CFA? Can I see papers?
Yes. The registration papers for your kitten will be provided to you upon proof from your veterinarian that your kitten has been spayed or neutered. Our breeding cats are all registered with TICA and/or CFA. Without registration for the kings and queens it would be impossible to register the kittens. Registration papers are available for your review upon request.
Do you ever sell kittens without papers or registration?
Never. Selling kittens without registration papers is an indicator of an unreputable breeder.
Can I see the parents (in person or video)?
In order to keep our cattery free of infections and diseases, we don’t provide in-person tours. Depending on the circumstances, it may be possible to view a king or queen via a virtual meeting. Please understand that we don’t interrupt kings and queens who are together for breeding, and we don’t interrupt queens who are caring for litters.
Do you provide a contract? May I see it in advance?
Yes – we send the contract to you for review and signing.
Do you require a spay/neuter contract?
Yes, as does every reputable breeder. Our veterinarian advises that spay/neuter alteration should happen around 5 or 6 months of age. Therefore, the spay/neuter will be performed by your local veterinarian when your ragdoll has become of age.
How long have you been breeding Ragdolls?
Since 2016. Our experience as a reputable, ethical breeder is extensive.
Do you offer lifetime breeder support?
Of course we do! We don’t replace your local veterinarian whose advice should be followed over anything that you might read online. But if you have questions, please feel free to contact us. We enjoy hearing about how your ragdoll is growing!
