Organizations that Serve the Cat World
Here are links to useful sites and resources. These are organizations that serve the cat world and ragdoll cat fanciers all around. We are proud to support their efforts.
TICA – The International Cat Association
TICA is one of the leading cat registry organizations in the world. It was established in 1979 (an offshoot of the AFCA organization), and they claim to be the largest cat registry organization in the world.
The Ragdoll breed was acknowledged by TICA shortly after TICA’s founding.
Riverside Rags has earned TICA’s highest breeder achievement: Outstanding Cattery.
CFA – Cat Fancier’s Association
And CFA is also a leading cat registry organization in the world. CFA was established in 1906. Not to be outdone by TICA, CFA also claims to be “largest registry of pedigreed cats.”
CFA officially recognizes the Ragdoll breed.
Riverside Rags has earned CFA’s highest breeder achievement: Cattery of Excellence.
ACFA – American Cat Fancier’s Association
AFCA is another long-existing cat registry organization in the world. While ACFA was established in 1955, both TICA and CFA have grown much larger. It is noteworthy that ACFA origionally refused to recognize the Ragdoll breed. This lead to two key developments:
- Ann Baker established her own short-lived registry in 1971.
- The ACFA President in 1979 resigned and was one of the founders of TICA.
ACFA later recognized the Ragdoll breed.
RFCI – Ragdoll Fancier’s Club International
RFCI is a volunteer organization promoting all things Ragdoll.
