TICA – The International Cat Association

TICA is one of the leading cat registry organizations in the world.  It was established in 1979 (an offshoot of the AFCA organization), and they claim to be the largest cat registry organization in the world. 

The Ragdoll breed was acknowledged by TICA shortly after TICA’s founding.

Riverside Rags has earned TICA’s highest breeder achievement: Outstanding Cattery.

CFA - Cat Fancier's Association Organizations that Serve the Cat World

CFA – Cat Fancier’s Association

And CFA is also a leading cat registry organization in the world.  CFA was established in 1906.  Not to be outdone by TICA, CFA also claims to be “largest registry of pedigreed cats.”

CFA officially recognizes the Ragdoll breed.

EveryCat Health Foundation

EveryCat Health Foundation

EveryCat Health Foundation is the world’s only nonprofit focused solely on feline health research. They are the most influential feline medicine organization in the world. It was established in 1968 by The Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA).

American Cat Fanciers Association Organizations that Serve the Cat World

ACFA – American Cat Fancier’s Association

AFCA is another long-existing cat registry organization in the world.  While ACFA was established in 1955, both TICA and CFA have grown much larger.  It is noteworthy that ACFA origionally refused to recognize the Ragdoll breed.  This lead to two key developments:

ACFA later recognized the Ragdoll breed, and continues to do so to this day.

CFF – Cat Fanciers’ Federation

CFF describes itself as “The Friendly Cat Organization and Registry“.  They were established around 2005 and sponsor many cat shows.  There are many clubs associated with CFF.  As a registry, they are substantially smaller than the other registries above.  The Ragdoll breed is recognized by the Cat Fancier’s Federation.

RHS – Ragdoll Historical Society

RHS is a volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the history of the ragdoll breed.  It is probable that this site holds the single-most authoritative documentation of credible historical facts about the origins of the ragdoll breed.

RFC is one of the volunteer organizations that serve the cat world.  They do a great job promoting all-things Ragdoll.

RFW – Ragdoll Fancier’s Worldwide Club

RFW is a club for ragdoll cat breeders.  The Code of Ethics promoted by RFW is one of the best, most complete in the ragdoll breeder world.  Legitimate Ragdoll Breeders will have no qualms about adherence to this Code of Ethics.  Riverside Rags cattery encourages compliance with these ethical breeder principles.

PawPeds - genetic pedigree databases and education

PawPeds

PawPeds is an international organization providing serious genetic research and documentation of many cat breeds, including Ragdolls.  They maintain online pedigree databases, like this one for Ragdoll cats.  They also provide detailed educational courses with challenging examinations.  We have passed the PawPeds G1 exam and we value PawPeds substantial contribution to the cat world.
