I paid the deposit for a new ragdoll kitten. When is the balance due? How do I pay the balance due?
When is the Balance Due?
Thank you for the deposit. The remaining balance of the payment for your new kitten will include transportation fees for your new furbaby (unless you plan to pick up your kitten at our in-home cattery), taxes, and any applicable transaction fees (4% additional for credit card or PayPal).
The balance is due:
• within 1 day of making a deposit if your kitten is Ready to Go
OR
• within 1 day of making a deposit if we are escorting your kitten to a destination of your choosing
OR
• within 1 week after making a deposit if your kitten is NOT YET Ready to Go AND you will be coming to Pasco, WA to pick up your new furbaby
When will my ragdoll be “Ready to Go”?
A kitten is “ready to go” (RtG) to her new home when she:
- weighs 2 lbs or more (or is very close to that weight).
- is fully weaned.
- is litter-box trained.
- has received at least the first round of vaccines.
These milestones are usually accomplished by 12 weeks, but sometimes it can be a couple of weeks earlier or later. If a mother has a large number of kittens in her litter (five, six or seven, for example), they might take a while longer to reach the same size and weight as kittens from a litter of one, two or three.
When do I pay the balance due?
If you make a deposit on a young fluffy bundle of fun, it is likely that your kitten will not yet be ready to go. In this case, the balance is due within 1 week of the time a depsit is made.
On the other hand, if you choose a sweet kitty that is ready for their new home, we will request payment in full within a day of making your deposit, after we coordinate any necessary delivery arrangements with you.
How do I pay the balance due for:
In-person pickup?
If you are picking up your new furbaby at our in-home cattery within 3 days after she reaches RtG status, we will accept payment at the time you pick her up. You are welcome to use the following payment methods, whichever you prefer:
- Cash
- Paypal or credit card
All other arrangements?
For all other cases (any delivery service or when the in-person pickup is scheduled for more than 3 days after your new kitty reaches RtG status), the following payment methods are accepted:
- Paypal (you can use a credit card, a debit card, or a direct transfer from your bank)
- Call us and provide a credit card over the phone
- Other options may be available. Please call us to discuss them.
Request for payment of balance due
After making arrangements for any delivery services, we will send you a request for payment that details the delivery service costs, taxes, etc. and that also shows that your deposit has been applied. Please wait to receive the request for payment before making the final payment. If you don’t see a request for payment from PayPal in your email inbox, please check your spam or junk folder.
Why are these requirements necessary?
All of our practices are focused on how we can best care for these sweet little kitties. Each is a one-of-a-kind beauty, and deserves someone who will adopt them, love and care for them, and be committed to them, just like a ragdoll kitten will commit herself to their human family.
On rare occasions, humans have ghosted us after making a deposit and starting to move forward on the adoption path. We don’t understand why this happens, but strangely it does. After we make numerous attempts to contact the person, we have no choice but to repost the kitten as available for adoption. We can’t just let time pass without hearing from someone, because it isn’t fair to the kitten to sit and wait for someone who may never again respond to our attempts to contact them. When we repost a kitten whose adoption has stalled, it gives other families a chance to adopt and love her. Unfortunately, the person’s non-refundable deposit is forfeited when we repost a kitten.

When the full payment is made, the person adopting the new kitten is demonstrating that they are equally committed to the best interests of the kitten and best-case outcomes.
